Comorbidity module

In medicine, comorbidity is the presence of one or more additional diseases or disorders co-existing with a primary disease or disorder; in the countable sense of the term, a comorbidity is every additional disorder or disease. The additional disorder may be a behavioural or mental disorder. Comorbidity is associated with worse health outcomes, more complex clinical management, and increased health care costs. Comorbidities may be used to place a patient into a rehabilitation impairment category.
To inform our authors about comorbidities related to the patient, SpeechReport shows the comorbidity codes and description assigned to the inpatients medical record on creation of an IDS, a discharge notification.
There are two types of comorbidities:
▪ Conditions
▪ Diagnostic indicators

The conditions are the permanent comorbidities registered for this patient and the diagnostic indicators hold potential comorbidities for a patient.
The comorbidity module needs to be installed on a workstation to be available to the client. Besides the installation on the client, there is an option to enable the comorbidity module from within the Worktype.

The comorbidities retrieved from the PAS are shown in as an overview within the navigation pane.
On top, the number of comorbidities is listed and an exclamation mark alarms the end user that an error during (later) retrieval has occurred.

Pressing ‘Show/Hide’ offers the user options to add a note to it for registration of new comorbidities for future usage.

Besides this the result of the connection and/or retrieval of the comorbidities is visible.
A red border indicates that an error has occurred but also lists the last successful retrieval and if no errors happened, the retrieval status is green.

The comorbidity codes can be added to the document as document variables and shown in a table like structure:
