1.   Introduction

1.1.                  Goals of this document

This document explains the procedure to set up automated emails from G2 Analytics. It also covers the setting up of the reports configuration manager with the SMTP details and how the emails can be distributed. 

2.   Setting up Automated Emails

 

To set up automated emails to different email accounts, you need a valid SMTP server and the sender address. 

 

Open the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and choose Email settings in the left pane

 

 

 

Please enter the Sender Address (preferably the module user’s email) and the SMTP server’s name.

 

It is possible that you configure automated emails without setting up an execution account. (But it can be done so as they can block the emails from being sent at times).

 

You can close the configuration manager now. 

 

In the Report Manager, right click on the report you want to set automatic emails from and click “Subscribe”.

 

 

 

Under Subscriptions, press “New Subscription” as shown below. 

 

 

 

When the subscription page opens, the following needs to be filled up.

 

 

 

 

To addresses, CC addresses, BCC addresses, Reply-To email, subject, priority and any comments that needs to be included.  Please uncheck “Include Link” 

 

After entering all the required addresses, please select the ‘Select Schedule’ button as suggested in the screenshot below.

 

 

Details of scheduling automated reports will be displayed. Here, you can set the date and time and recurrence of emails to the recipients can be set as follows.

 

 

 

 

Press ‘OK’.

 

Now the automated emails option has been set and test the functionality by sending a test email. 

 

Note: If the automated emails throw out an error, then it is possible to activate them by starting the SQL server agent manually in services.msc.
