SpeechReport 3.6 / Windows 11 23H2

I’m pleased to report that we have identified a resolution to the issue which seemed to be affecting the Windows 11 23H2 build.

After some investigation there had been numerous reports online of similar issues of the ‘audiodg.exe’ process crashing when using USB audio devices on certain Dell models and Windows versions, and suggestions that the Realtek audio driver is to blame (despite not being used by either SpeechReport or Philips audio devices)

We have tested 3 machines today, each of which were initially running Realtek High Definition Audio Driver: 6.0.9313.1 (quite outdated at 15/02/22), and al 3 PCs were exhibiting the issue at random intervals with the same ‘audiodg.exe’ errors in event viewer.

After updating the Realtek driver to the latest available from the Dell support site for this hardware, 6.0.9597.1 (dated 31/10/2023), on each of the machines and repeating the same tests, we were unable to re-produce the issue suggesting that it’s now resolved with this updated driver.

If possible, this driver needs to be built into the Windows 11 build at the earliest convenience so that it’s out there and deployed in advance of the upgrade.

On a side note, ‘Audio Enhancements’ must be disabled for the SpeechMike like so to ensure proper functionality in Win11:
